In this video we teach you how to install a dimmer light switch. Dimmer switches are a great way to update your lighting from a traditional switch and can help provide a wide range of lighting control.
In some states and municipalities , dimmer light switches are required to be used for new residential construction to comply with energy efficiency regulations. In this video we installed a Lutron Maestro Dimmer Switch. It does not require a neutral wire and is a 3 way capable dimmer light switch. If you are installing this light switch in a 3 way configuration it will require 3 Way Companion Dimmer: https://amzn.to/2LbHNO3 for the other side of the 3 way dimmer switch.
This Dimmer switch is not a smart switch and does not connect to the internet but it does allow full range dimming and have an LED indicator that will show the current dimming level range. A single tap of the paddle on the switch will turn on or off the dimmer light switch and you can adjust the dimming levels up or down using side mounted dimming control levers.
How To Install The Dimmer Light Switch:
1. Turn off the power to the dimmer light switch
2. Confirm the power if off to the light switch
3. With the power confirmed to be off remove the light switch cover plate
4. Remove the light switch from the junction box with the two screws holding it in place.
5. Take a picture of the existing wiring.
6. Remove the existing wiring from the existing light switch.
7. Install the existing wiring on to the the new dimmer light switch terminals. Then secure the terminals.
8. Re-install the new dimmer light switch, and secure to the junction box with the two screws removed.
9. Install the cover plate.
10. Turn the power back on the dimmer light switch and test functionality.
