This video shows you how to determine if you need a common wire for the Nest Thermostat. You can look at the power settings on your Nest Thermostat to see if a C wire is required. Typically if your voltage is over 3.6 and if you have an Lin over 40mA you don’t need a common wire. If it is below these settings you might need to add a common wire or a common wire adapter for your Nest Thermostat.
If your Nest Thermostat is working fine without a common wire there is no reason to add one. If it begins to malfunction you can add a common wire at a later time with a simple adjustment.
