In this video we teach you how to replace the Nest x Yale lock batteries. The Nest x Yale lock uses 4 AA batteries. The Nest x Yale lock batteries typically last about 6 months to a year. To replace the Nest x Yale Lock batteries you need either the tool that ships with the smart lock or a small diameter pin or paper clip. You then insert the pin into the top of the Nest Smart lock to press down the battery cover plate tab. With the tab pressed down the cover plate will rotate off and you can replace the Nest x Yale lock batteries.
While the Nest x Yale lock recommends not using rechargeable batteries, I have used rechargeable batteries in my Nest lock without any issues. The advantage of rechargeable batteries is that they create less waste and in the long run make it less expensive to operate the lock and are more environmentally friendly.
